Who We Are:
Tact-K9 based in Seymour, Indiana is a highly recommended training institute. We provide Medical, Fire, Tactical, Search & Rescue & K9 education. We also provide a K9 SAR Team to assist first responders in missing persons cases. We ONLY deploy via law enforcement and/or EMA/ dispatch. Although our specialty is first responders, we also provide training for the civilian world as well. Founded by Paige (Koop) Bush in 2020, as IGY6 Training Institute, continued to grow & expand the classes and trainings they offered. The name then changed to Tact-K9 in 2024 after getting more involved with K9s and first responders. Tact-K9 uses a variety of Instructors from a variety of backgrounds including but not limited to: the FBI, Task Force teams, Nationally recognized K9 Handlers, LEO K9 handlers and trainers, First Responders, and Military.
Her unwavering dedication to her career and K9 partner, shown by her outstanding work, willingness to always continue to learn, and the number of awards, nominations, and certifications she has behind her name. She has built this program from the dirt up and continues striving to be better than the day before.

Owner/Founder/Instructor: Paige Koop Bush 2009-current
Paige joined Hamilton Twp. Fire Department in 2009, obtaining her EMT 2010. She graduated from IUPUI, where she played soccer, and earned her a Bachelor of Science in Health Science and her Paramedic in 2013. Over the years she has served as a tech at Floyd Memorial and Schneck ERs, Captain & paramedic program director at Scott County EMS, served as a firefighter/paramedic for Monroe Twp. Fire Dept., and Jackson County EMS. She currently serves as the fundraiser chair, pediatric program chair, medical officer, and is on several boards at Hamilton Twp. Fire Dept. She also currently serves as the training director/ paramedic at Jennings County EMS. She is a member of the Jennings County SWAT team serving as a medic. She is a member of the Indiana United SAR team based out of Floyd County IN & Jennings County K9 SAR. Paige is the owner/founder of Tact- K9 Training Institute and Search & rescue team. She is an AHA, NAEMT, PI, Tactical Med, and K9 instructor covering a wide variety of topics and courses. She is currently obtaining her Masters in Emergency Services Management from Columbia Southern University in Orange Beach Alabama. She currently has K9 Nitro who focus in Live Find Area Search, HRD/Cadaver, Article Search and recently started training in detection work. Her and K9 Nitro will test in the spring. Nitro is a 1-year-old black female lab. Nitro came from Stuckwish Labs in Brownstown, IN. She has trained with K9 and ground teams from Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Kentucky. She is currently and still in the process of building her K9 SAR team that will be based out of Jackson County, IN. She trains with a variety of K9, and ground teams and brings a lot of experience from the medical, fire, K9 and Ground SAR and tactical medicine side of things. She has obtained many state, national, and international certifications over the years and continues to learn and expand her knowledge in all areas. She has also put on and spoke at many seminars, symposiums, and events as well as attended parades, demos, and many other trainings in areas of K9, medical and Fire areas. She is currently working on her own seminar that will be held twice a year covering a variety of topics and courses related.
Instructor: Tammy Thornton 2006- current
Tammy started in K9 search and rescue in 2006 and continues to serve the state of Indiana and the surrounding areas. She was a member of IN Task Force K9 team for 4 years, currently a member of Vigo County K9 Search & Rescue and Jennings County K9 Search & Rescue. Her current teams train with many other search and rescue teams around the state and adjoining states. She has 18 years of experience with K9 search and rescue attending many seminars, demos, parades, events, and classes across the United States. She has also assisted in and gave many presentations, demos, and lectures regarding different K9 areas of education and training. She and her current teams train with K9 teams in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, and North Carolina. She also has assisted in many ground searches as well. She currently has 2 working K9s Ruger and Remington. K9 Ruger is an 8-year-old red fox lab, has been certified 7 times in both Land and Water HRD at the state and national levels and is currently NSDA certified. He recently started training in live find area search and will test in the spring. She also has Remi a 1-year-old black lab, a dual purpose K9 who has been training in HRD, Article, and live find area search as well. He too will test in the spring. She brings a lot to the table and is a great asset to Tact- K9 bringing experience in K9 obedience, HRD, live Find, K9 and Human Behavioral courses, ground search and NIMS courses.
